CICLing 2013
Cultural program

URGENT  Those going to the Ephesus tour are requested to provide their passport data via the registration form ASAP, but not later than Monday afternoon, otherwise you will not be allowed onboard by the port authorities.

Sunday 24: Samos. See the photo gallery of Samos: we will visit some of those places during our tour by Samos.

Wednesday 27: Ephesus, an ancient Greek city and later a major Roman city.

Very important: this place is in Turkey. If you need a visa to enter Turkey, please consider getting it in advance. If you need an invitation for this, contact the organizers in advance. You can find some information here (check there whether you can obtain a visa at the border gate), but please double-check it with your local Embassy of Turkey. The organizers will not be held responsible for any visa-related issues that might arise during this tour, and no refund will be offered if you are not allowed to continue the tour by the Turkish authorities, or even not allowed to return to Greece by the Greek authorities (which is extremely unlikely unless you are a famous drug dealer).

Saturday 30: Patmos island. Forbes has named Patmos as Europe's most idyllic place. It is also famous for Christian historical places, featuring two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Cave of the Apocalypse, where John of Patmos received his visions that he recorded in the Book of Revelation, the apocalyptic text forming part of the New Testament, and the Monastery of Saint John the Divine.

Note: Transportation to both Ephesus and Patmos is by boat. If the weather is not suitable, the tour can be cancelled, possibly at the last moment; this decision will depend on the maritime safety authorities or the boat's captain and not on the organizers of the conference. No refund can be offered in such an event, and the organizers may or may not be able to provide an alternative activity. See a more detailed disclaimer.
